SAT Reading

Students are given 52 questions to answer over 65 minutes on the SAT Reading Test, which includes material from four individual passages and one pair of passages, all of which are based on passages of 500 to 750 words that range in difficulty from 9th grade to introductory college level.

The SAT Reading Test is given to determine whether college applicants can learn from written material, a skill that is important in all academic fields. Students are tested on their comprehension of subjects ranging from U.S. and world literature to history, social studies, and science. The passages are also diverse in terms of type, literary technique, and difficulty level. Students must interpret the passages in addition to answering questions about their meaning (both explicit and implied), quality of writing, rhetorical impact, and supporting data.

SAT Writing

Students are asked to answer 11 multiple-choice questions about four different reading passages to improve their writing and language skills on the 2016 SAT Writing and Language Test. Students answer 44 questions in 35 minutes in various subjects, including career issues, the humanities, history and social studies, and science. Every subject includes one passage, which is between 400 and 450 words long. Students may either read an informative, narrative, or argumentative essay. The test consists of three difficulty levels, beginning with early high school and ending with early postsecondary. Some charts, tables, and graphs are included in the Writing and Language Test.

SAT Math

The SAT Math Test is 80 minutes long. Test-takers must choose from a list of answers or fill the corresponding boxes with a numerical answer.

The Math section of the 2016 SAT has been altered to give students and educators a greater understanding of the mathematical skills required for post-secondary study in various disciplines. While abstract mathematics is still a crucial subject, the new SAT Math Test emphasizes the skills needed for studying non-STEM fields, especially the social sciences and career-oriented issues. The revised SAT Math Test should be considered a better evaluation than older models, but conventional SAT prep wisdom must be reconsidered in light of the alterations.

SAT Essay

There has been a significant redesign of the 2016 SAT essay section. Universities may require students to submit SAT essay scores. The College Board recommends that all students take this test portion to demonstrate reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. The essay section has been extended from 25 minutes to 50 minutes, and the essay topic has changed from taking a stand on an issue to analyzing an argument. Students must write a single essay on a common prompt for all SAT administrations.
