Our staff of learning specialists, academic tutors, and writing coaches, who have been referred to us by colleagues we trust, help students across the United States, including elementary, middle, high school, college students, and adults with and without learning differences. Our specialists have years of experience teaching and tutoring in various public and private educational settings; many have expertise in executive functioning. We have more advanced training than certified teachers since we have masters or PhDs in fields related to learning differences, including psychology, special education, math, literacy, and language pathology, to name a few. Also, we offer content tutoring and coaching in math, science, foreign languages, and the craft of writing. All offered remotely!
Our specialists also offer test prep for the state, local and national exams and specialty a la carte services for families and students. These services include family coordination; organizational support and communication systems; application support for middle, high school, and college; writing coaching for college and school applications; transition plans for middle, high school, and college students; college coaching and counseling; and interview coaching for high school/college admissions, scholarships, and jobs/internships. Planning, monitoring, executing, and working memory are crucial skills for sustaining attention, cognitive flexibility, inhibition of impulses, and goal-directed persistence. Executive functioning plays a major role in reading, structuring essays, solving math problems, completing homework assignments, performing well on tests, and becoming active learners in the classroom.
The signs and symptoms of learning disabilities often differ from one individual to another. Particular issues can limit the ability to learn key skills, such as writing, math, and reading. Students may show difficulties with time management, attention, abstract reasoning, organization, and short and long-term memory. Children with learning disabilities need timely support and intervention, tailored to the needs of the individual.
Improving language processing can strengthen the ability to: Understand written instructions; acquire new and unfamiliar vocabulary words; use correct grammar; structure paragraphs; learn not to omit words or sounds when writing; organize the steps for thinking and writing to improve executive functioning;, identify main ideas and supporting details; deepen reading comprehension to improve monitoring while reading; and learn to construct mental imagery, summarize, preview texts, activate background knowledge, take advantage of graphic organizers, and more!

Addressing Dyscalculia and other math disorders can improve foundational/computational math skills such as addition, subtraction, division, fractions, geometry, and algebra. Whether you ‘like’ it or not, Facebook has pretty much taken over the world and all of our social lives just within the past few years, and it all started in the small city of Menlo Park. An iconic Silicon Valley site and hometown success, the original Facebook Headquarters is a must-see if you’re visiting the Peninsula. Snap a pic next to the big thumbs-up and be THAT person on your high school friends’ news feeds.
Looking for a cute brunch spot? Check out Café Borrone. Just across the street from Downtown Menlo Park, Café Borrone can catch up with old friends or grab a quick bite to eat on your lunch break. If you can snag a table outside on the plaza, you’re golden. Friendly staff and longtime ‘regulars’ at the café make a warm, peaceful environment out of this Menlo Park hotspot. Dating back to 1955, this independent bookstore is a local landmark.
