Calculus and math are some of the most challenging topics for many people in the US. But is calculus that difficult? Around 93% of American students are afraid of math and calculus, so it’s very important to find the right tips and tricks to help you study adequately and without interruptions.
With that in mind, we are here to share a few study techniques to help make it easier to excel at calculus. Here are the best ideas to keep in mind.
Study Techniques for Excelling in Calculus
Take notes often.
It might seem obvious, but taking notes often will help you immensely. It will make it easy for you to understand the class and what was taught, and you can go through your notes multiple times.
Which is why it can be a great idea to write things down. You should get creative with it too. For example:
- You can use your own words to summarize what the teacher said.
- You can also draw pictures since those make remembering easier, and it’s a better experience overall.
- You don’t want to write down too much because you can get distracted and write something that might not be relevant.

You also see them in motion, understand how it works, and so on. The best part is that it will allow you to learn with the proper example. That makes such a method more efficient than any of the others you might find out there. And it’s exactly why many students use it.
Start to memorize the complex formulas early on.
We recommend studying those calculus formulas early on if you can. Not only is it efficient, but it will convey some amazing results. It allows you to master the formulas that would be hard to learn later.
