Real-World, and Fun Applications of Math and Science

Grades: 8 – 11

(Requirement: Students must be currently enrolled in
or have completed Algebra 1)

Did you know that you apply Math and Science skills to your daily life without even knowing it Simple things like kicking a ball, cleaning a window, cooking with a family member or exercising while in quarantine all require Math and Science knowledge. In this fun course of exploration, we will apply logical thinking skills and explore concepts of Algebra intertwined with some biology, earth science and even some physics.

Dates: 10 sessions: Mondays and Wednesdays from May 11 to June 10, 2020
(Class will be held on Tuesday, May 26 instead of Memorial Day, May 25)
Time: 4pm – 5pm
Instructor: Alissa

Alissa is a NYC Department of Education teacher with expertise in High School Sciences and Math and Special Education. At Themba Tutors, she tutors and coaches students with and without learning differences in all academic areas, executive function skills, study skills and test prep.
