A private geometry tutor will provide your child one-on-one attention from a highly qualified learning specialist. This is critical because students who require extra assistance may only sometimes receive the guidance they need from their school teacher, who is responsible for dozens of other students. Geometry tutors can help your child catch up, keep up, and even get ahead of his or her peers by providing extra assistance.
Our NYC geometry tutors at Themba Tutors are dedicated to assisting you in laying the groundwork for your child’s future. Our private NYC geometry tutors can conveniently visit your home or conduct lessons online for you and your child. Our math tutors have extensive experience and serve as positive role models. We can offer you a flexible learning approach tailored to your child’s needs.
Why Do Students Struggle With Geometry?
Since geometry is more creative than analytical, learners usually need help transitioning from algebra to geometry. Instead of the analytical skills they were used to utilizing in algebra, they must use their spatial and logical skills.
To put it simply, geometry is math applied to pictures.
Learning a new math concept is like finding a way through an unfamiliar forest. More often, you are bound to get lost. While you can study with a group or on your own, getting a tutor to guide you and show you the best path is best.
While the tutor prepares a lesson tailor-fit to your child’s learning abilities, as a parent, it is important to assess your kids and discuss their challenges in learning these new concepts.
It is also imperative that tutors explain the practical uses of geometry and how it plays a significant role in their lives.
Geometry Basics
Geometry studies various mathematical or actual-world shapes, figures, and sizes. In geometry, we study various angles, transformations, and figure-to-figure similarities.
The fundamental concepts of geometry primarily depend on point, line, angle, and plane. These fundamental geometrical ideas serve as the foundation for all geometric shapes.
Logic and Proof
What do proof and logic in mathematics mean?
A mathematical proof is a logical and methodical argument that establishes the truth or falsity of a statement. Direct proof, also known as proof by deduction, begins with a known fact and leads logically to a conclusion.
Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
Lines in a plane that are consistently spaced apart are known as parallel lines. Parallel lines don’t cross each other. Perpendicular lines are those that cross at a straight angle of 90 degrees.
Congruent Triangles
Congruent triangles are triangles that are precisely the same size and shape. The symbol for congruent is ≅. Two triangles are said to be congruent when the three sides and three angles of one triangle match the same dimensions as the three sides and three angles of another triangle.
Relationship in Triangles
According to the “sides of a triangle rule,” any two sides of a triangle must add up to be longer than the third side.
Similar Triangles
If the respective sides of two triangles are proportional and the corresponding angles are congruent, then the triangles are said to be comparable. To put it another way, similar triangles have the same shape but may differ in size. In addition, if the triangles’ corresponding sides are identical in length, the triangles are congruent.
Right Triangles and Trigonometry
The study of correlations between triangles’ side lengths and angles is known as trigonometry. A triangle with one right angle is referred to as a right triangle or right-angled triangle. Trigonometry’s foundation is the relationship between a right triangle’s sides and angles.
Polygons and Quadrilaterals
A perfect four-sided polygon is referred to as a quadrilateral. Discussions of 2-D shapes occasionally refer to the boundary (the line segments that define the figure’s edges) or to the interior. This also means that a quadrilateral has precisely four vertices and exactly four angles.
Transformations
Transformations can be divided into four categories: translation, rotation, reflection, and dilation. We can rotate about any point, reflect across any line, and translate along any vector based on the description of the transformation.
Circles
A circle is a circular shape without boundaries or edges. A circle is a closed, curved object with two dimensions in geometry. A car tire, a time-telling wall clock, and lollipops are a few objects in our environment — that has a circular form.
Volume and Surface Area
The area or region that an object’s surface occupies is known as its surface area. Volume, on the other hand, refers to the amount of space an object has. There are numerous geometric shapes and dimensions, including spheres, cubes, cuboids, cones, cylinders, etc. Each form has its own volume and surface area.
Probability
Finding the chance of an event happening is the focus of the mathematic branch defined as a probability. Probability, which expresses the likelihood of an event occurring, is calculated by dividing the total number of occurrences by the number of favorable events. Probability values range from 0 to 1, with 1 representing certainty and 0 representing uncertainty.
Students of all ages receive one-on-one guidance in all instructional materials, exam preparation, and executive function therapy. At Themba Tutors, we take the time to help students and clients appreciate their strengths and succeed in areas where they need to improve. We offer personalized tools for each of our clients to help them become more aware of their individual needs as they work toward short-term goals. These skills will assist our students/clients in achieving their long-term goals.
TESTIMONIALS
My son has been working with Jeffrey for math tutoring with brilliant results. Jeffrey helped reinforce the lessons from class, helping him build confidence and perseverance. Jeffrey worked diligently to prepare for each session by making sure he was aware of what material my son was covering each week. Jeffrey would arrive for sessions with problem sheets they could work from to strengthen his skills. He was always very patient, reassuring, and encouraging. While at the same time, he pushed Oliver toward mastery of the material. In six months, my son began to see himself as a capable, successful math student.

My daughter, a freshman in a public high school, was struggling in math. I got in touch with Blythe at Themba, and she managed to have a wonderful math tutor come to my home the following day. She stayed much more than the required time to make sure that my daughter understood all the concepts. She also followed up with us and asked if we had any other questions that she could help with. As a parent, it is a relief to know that you can secure a tutor very quickly who comes straight to your home.
A great experience!

Paul at Themba has been an exceptional tutor for my son, both in terms of teaching the subject matter and teaching how best to approach the process of learning math and executing assignments. We feel very fortunate to be working with Paul.
-MICHAEL BIRNBAUM
Chris has been wonderful working with U on math for the past few months, she adores him!
-Z.K.
My child worked with Gillian D virtually for math enrichment. She is an excellent teacher. She took time to understand my child’s specific learning style and provided tools that would be engaging. She was kind and empathetic- really made it her goal to connect with my child and build trust and rapport. My child started the school year with confidence and without the typically “brain-drain” that occurs over the summer, thanks to Gillian.
