NY REGENTS EXAMS- STANDARDIZED TEST PREP
NY REGENTS
Students who successfully complete the New York State (NYS) Regents Exams are eligible to acquire a high school diploma from the state of New York.
What advantages come with taking the NY Regents Exams?
For most universities, a candidate must have at least a Regents diploma before considering accepting them. An associate’s degree might increase job and educational options. According to statistics, high school graduates make more money than those who did not complete high school.
How to pass the regents exams?
Taking actual practice exams, reviewing prior homework assignments and quizzes from your math class, getting assistance from your math teacher, and hiring a tutor are the greatest ways to ensure you pass the exam.

The Regents Exam periods are determined by taking the following criteria into account: The January examination period is four days long and is scheduled near the conclusion of the month. The June examination session is nine days long, including two rating days. It is scheduled near the end of the month, but with at least two weekdays in June after the examination session concludes. The August examination period is two days long to allow for a summer school session.
Students must verify with their schools the exact times that they are to report for their State examinations. Visit New York State Education Department for more details.
Here are the subjects you need to study thoroughly:
Regents Algebra 1
What topics are covered in Algebra 1 Regents?
The fundamental concepts and rules taught in algebra before trigonometry are covered in the Algebra 1 Regents test. In case you want to examine any of the ideas, the following is a more detailed breakdown of the topics:
- Functions
- Linear equations
- Logarithms
- Polynomials
- Quadratic equations
- Completing the square
- Sequences and series
- Simplifying
- Equations
- Fractions
- Cross multiplying
- Associative, commutative, and distributive laws
- Word problems
Regents Geometry
The Geometry Regents exam covers the majority of math topics relating to shapes. Key subjects include the following:
- Circles
- Pi
- Circumference
- Triangles
- Types (equilateral, isosceles, scalene, right)
- Special right triangles
- Pythagorean theorem
- Quadrilaterals (rectangles, squares, parallelograms, rhombuses, trapezoids)
- Other polygons (pentagons, hexagons)
- Lines and slopes
- Areas of shapes, including circles, squares, triangles, and other polygons
- Volumes of 3-D shapes, including spheres, cylinders, cones, pyramids, and rectangular prisms
- Angles
- Acute angles
- Obtuse angles
- Right angles
- Rules of angles (e.g., opposite interior angles)
- Transformations
- Rotations
- Reflections
- Translations
- Resizing
- Perimeters of shapes, including circles, squares, triangles, and other polygons
Regents Algebra II
You will be tested on a wide range of advanced math topics on the Algebra 2 Regents exam, sometimes known as the Trig Regents exam, due to its concentration on trigonometry, including polynomials, conditional probability, and complex numbers.
The high-level concepts covered in Algebra 2 Regents are a little more complex than those assessed in Algebra 1 Regents, with a greater emphasis on trigonometry (hence the reason the test is also commonly referred to as Trig Regents).
- Functions
- Exponential functions
- Square functions
- Cube root functions
- Number e
- Logarithms
- Matrices
- Probability
- Polynomials
- Properties, dividing, factoring, graphing
- Rational exponents
- Rational functions, equations, and inequalities
- Trigonometry and trigonometric functions
- SOHCAHTOA
- Unit circle
SHSAT MATH
Students in the eighth and ninth grades should take the Specialized High School Admissions Test, which is required for entrance to some of New York City’s best schools. Only the most talented young people succeed on the rigorous test and get admitted to NYC’s specialized high schools.
The SHSAT is intricate and varied; therefore, before beginning to study, it’s essential to conduct research and understand how the test operates. Start early because a test of this level needs much practice and planning.
SAT MATH
The SAT Math sections have a total of 54 questions: 10 student-written response questions and 44 multiple-choice questions. Students must solve a problem and choose the best response from a list of options to successfully complete the five multiple-choice questions. Student-produced response questions don’t offer answer options; instead, they ask students to solve a problem and grid the right response.
The four mathematical disciplines of operations and numbers, functions and algebra, geometry and measurement, and data analysis, statistics, and probability are all covered in the SAT Math questions.
ACT MATH
Pre-algebra, elementary algebra, and intermediate algebra questions, plane geometry, coordinate geometry questions, and some trigonometry questions are the six different question types that often make up the ACT Math Test.
