Math tutoring for students with ADHD in NYC must stabilize execution under pressure—not simply re-explain content. We provide structured, in-home math tutoring across Manhattan and Brooklyn for students navigating accelerated classrooms where small inconsistencies quickly impact grades.
Serving middle and high school students whose math performance fluctuates despite strong conceptual understanding.
Many NYC families begin looking for math tutoring when performance becomes inconsistent despite clear ability.
Students who benefit from ADHD-informed math tutoring often show patterns such as:
These patterns typically reflect execution breakdowns, not conceptual gaps.
Math instability in ADHD students is typically driven by pacing and working memory strain, not lack of comprehension.
Across Manhattan and Brooklyn schools, we regularly see students who:
Yet their grades show:
The breakdown occurs during execution — not instruction. In accelerated NYC math tracks, inconsistency compounds quickly.

Re-teaching concepts does not correct execution volatility.
Many tutoring models respond to inconsistency by:
But if the breakdown happens during sequencing, pacing, or checking, repetition alone does not create stability.
Students may understand the material and still perform unpredictably.
Structured math instruction can externalize pacing and verification systems that ADHD disrupts.
Our approach integrates executive function directly into subject instruction:
Over time, students internalize repeatable problem-solving habits. The outcome is consistent math performance across assignments and exams.
Structured math tutoring sessions are designed to build repeatable systems, not just complete assignments.
Sessions are typically structured around:
Most students work 1–2 times per week depending on workload, course difficulty, and academic pressure.
In-home tutoring allows sessions to align directly with the student’s school curriculum and pacing.
Evan was an awesome math tutor and a great support for my son, meeting him where he was without judgment and helping
build his confidence in math.
My 13 year old son worked with Aaron on Math throughout 8th grade and we are so pleased with what they were able to accomplish together. B had always seen himself as good at math and was placed in honors math for 7th grade but had a hard time keeping up, was diagnosed with ADHD (turns out he hadn’t been retaining or absorbing much that year) and put back in “regular ” math for 8th grade. We knew he needed to shore up fundamentals and restore confidence/mojo as a math student.Aaron helped Billy get caught up on the fundamentals he’d been fuzzy on and get a solid handle on each building block as the Algebra got more complex. He read through Billy’s diagnosis report to better understand the learning differences and executive functioning challenges he was working with and tailored his teaching style to include coping strategies to encourage less impulsivity, more attention to detail/review, etc.
Aaron was also very easy to work with – always flexible and following up sessions with helpful summaries and reminders and encouragements for Billy. Highly recommend!
We have been with our tutor, Cailin, for two years, from 5th – 7th grade. She started as an executive functioning tutor with my daughter. From the start, she demonstrated a depth of expertise and a selective use of techniques skillfully adapted to my daughter’s ADHD and Math disability. Cailin made Math accessible and understandable to her in a way that even her teachers had not been able to do. She differentiated reading, writing and math tasks and assignments to tailor them to my daughter’s unique learning differences. Not only did it have an effect on her grades and her work efficiency, but she finally could do her work with less anxiety. Even my daughter’s teachers used Cailin’s guidance to modify their work with her. But most importantly, she became my daughter’s favorite resource. I can’t say how invaluable Cailin has been to my daughter’s progress and well being. I’d recommend her a million times over. She is a gem.
My daughter, a freshman in a public high school, was struggling in math. I got in touch with Blythe at Themba, and she managed to have a wonderful math tutor come to my home the following day. She stayed much more than the required time to make sure that my daughter understood all the concepts. She also followed up with us and asked if we had any other questions that she could help with. As a parent, it is a relief to know that you can secure a tutor very quickly who comes straight to your home.
A great experience!

NYC math pacing leaves little room for error volatility.
Manhattan families often navigate accelerated private school tracks and early honors placement where math grades are closely monitored.
Brooklyn families frequently balance competitive public school programs with rigorous independent environments where Regents alignment and GPA sensitivity run high.
Students face:
In these settings, inconsistency affects transcripts quickly.
We build systems that match this pace.
