Are you the parent of a high school student in New York City who faces unique challenges with ADHD or executive functioning? Do you wonder how you can best support your high school students’ journey to college, ensuring they have the tools and skills needed to succeed? Look no more! Our ADHD and EF college prep coaches in NYC understand the unique struggles that high school students with learning differences face during their journey to college.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurological condition characterized by patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. These traits can significantly affect learning and daily activities, making traditional educational environments challenging for students with ADHD. Understanding ADHD is the first step towards empathy and tailored support.

In the United States, approximately 2 to 8% of the college student population reports clinically significant levels of ADHD symptoms. Furthermore, at least 25% of college students who have disabilities are diagnosed with ADHD. One study noted that a little more than 25% of first-year college students fail to persist to their second year, with dropout rates being even more pronounced for neurodivergent students, including those with executive function challenges.

TESTIMONIALS

Barbara was absolutely fantastic with Lila, and we were very happy with her. Lila got accepted to her first choice, and we appreciated the help not only with her essay but also with general college questions Barbara was able to help her with.

-Teena M.

Lillian is amazing and is, no doubt, a large factor in the colleges Ben has been accepted to.  She has changed his whole orientation towards his academics.

I have currently secured two excellent Themba Tutors for my son, a junior in a NYC High School. My son really enjoys working with these tutors, Matt and Anthony. He finds their methods clear and inspiring. Matt works with my son on college entrance test preparation (ACT and SAT), and Anthony works with my son on written expression, executive functioning and attention skills.

-Kristina K.

My son, a junior in a private high school worked, with a wonderful tutor from Themba to get ready for his SATs. I spoke with Blythe and she asked detailed questions about my sons strengths and weaknesses. She put me in touch with Don, who worked beautifully with my son. Don immediately understood where my son needed help and focused their time together on specific areas of need. He also recognized my sons strengths ( math )and was able to accelerate his understanding in those areas. My sons score jumped 190 points! The individualized instruction he got from Themba and Don was amazing! I highly recommend these wonderful people.
