At Themba Tutors, our primary focus is providing our students with the best, comprehensive, individualized support. We are adamant about the importance of matching each of our students with the right tutor, coach, or learning specialist. Ensuring all your needs are being met by the best person to address them is part of our service and commitment, which is why we offer free consultations and intake and require no financial obligations.

We have a clinical approach to help pair your child with a tutor or coach, and our intake process is straightforward.

• First, you set up the free call with our CEO. The call helps us to understand your family’s needs. 
• Our CEO and founder personally reviews previous reports, psychological evaluations, and school reports. 
• The CEO matches your student with our specialists and sends their bios for your review. 
• You speak to one or more tutors/coaches on free phone calls before the first session.  
• We also help teens and college students decide who they want to work with. 
• You choose a tutor and schedule the first paid session.

Building a Team

Themba Tutors first launched its coaching and tutoring services in the summer of 2012, headed by our CEO Craig Selinger, a licensed language therapist and learning specialist, with Dr. Grossberg. Aimed at supporting learners of all ages and skill levels within the comfort of their homes, schools, or online, Themba Tutors is focused on building a multidisciplinary education staff grounded in contemporary scientific research, technologies, and strategies. Each of our tutors is highly skilled at uncovering and addressing core learning and attentional difficulties. Our goal isn’t just to help with this year’s academic material but to refine core skills applicable to future learning. 

We believe that a student’s learning gains ought to last a lifetime.  As a result, our students have gone on to attend (and thrive in) a variety of public and private elementary and secondary schools, colleges, and universities, including Ivy League institutions.

Over the years, Themba has grown to more than 60 staff–referred to us by colleagues we trust–composed of learning specialists, academic tutors, and executive function coaches with masters-level or doctorate degrees related to helping children and adults with or without learning differences. All staff have experience teaching and tutoring in public and private educational settings, and many have expertise in executive function coaching. 

Many of our specialists are scholars who have written and lectured extensively about learning differences and education. Clients benefit from working with our qualified specialists, who are specially trained to assess and focus on content, skills, and/or particular learning differences. Our specialists also offer adult coaching services to working professionals looking for organizational assistance, reading, and/or writing support.
