How Do Our Academic Coordinators Manage School Related Tasks for You and Your Family?

 

Themba’s Academic Coordinators free you from parent duties. They help with daily scheduling, school management, and after school activities.  A coordinator provides creative and educational solutions for the many challenges when trying to balance career and family with school and academics. Our staff work with families who have one, two, or three children. Support services are remote and custom-designed to your needs, your family’s needs and each student’s needs (grade and learning needs). 

 

Academic Coordinators are professional educators with advanced degrees and many years of experience tutoring and teaching students of all ages. All our staff is familiar with the curriculum and academics at the public and private schools in the New York Metro area. 

 

Themba’s Academic Coordinators are more than just managers. Their primary goal is to support each student’s learning in collaboration with you, your family, their teachers and tutors, school administrators, and other professionals such as psychologists and guidance counselors.

 

 

What Type Of Support Services Do Academic Coordinators Provide?

 

Our Coordinators bring organization to your family’s busy school life. Our Coordinators meet with you and your family to determine the scope of work. Families need different types of support. All management support is approved by you, the parent, and discussed with your student and the family. We custom design the service to meet your needs. Here is a list of the many management tasks our staff might provide for you and your family. If tasks are not listed here, give us a call and we can discuss services to help you.

 

 

Schedules

 

  • Manage an online family calendar
  • Suggest and plan daily and weekly schedules with each student
  • Problem solve and troubleshoot when challenges arise with managing academics and activities

Academics

 

  • Manage academic needs and follow the school’s curriculum with each student
  • Assist students with scheduling class assignments, assessments, and school projects
  • Break up school assignments and class projects into manageable time slots during the week
  • Check-in daily with students to hold them accountable (to be determined by student needs and parent approval)
  • Communicate with the student’s school, teachers, other professionals as needed
  • Follow-up with the school regarding student performance on assignments and assessments
  • Provide advice and solutions if a student needs academic or executive function support

 

 

Tutors and Other Professionals 

 

  • Determine, locate, schedule, and manage academic tutor(s) and/or learning specialists 
  • Monitor progress towards the student’s learning goals with a tutor(s).
  • Coordinate communication (recommendations, feedback, evaluation, curriculum) to/from the tutor to the school or family as needed

After School Activities

 

  • Research, plan and schedule after school activities;

 

 

Plus Our Staff Design Management Plans for Remote School Learning, Blended School Learning or Other School Plans Due to COVID 19

 

  • Design a homeschooling plan to decrease screen time and increase productive time
  • Break up virtual learning and completing assignments and projects into manageable time slots during the week;
  • Create a virtual learning or blended learning plan that minimizes distractions, schedules time for breaks; includes a realistic and achievable routine; and establishes consistent workspaces; help with troubleshooting;
  • Set up a homeschooling schedule and a to-do list with tasks and priorities, and includes time allocated for school vs. fun activities;
  • Plan how to balance parents work from home needs;
  • Advice on behavior management;
  • Provide weekly parent coaching, check in on student progress, troubleshoot, and provide ways to help;
  • Guide parents with strategies that will help students with specific content and skills;
