AP BIOLOGY

Meghan is a NYS certified biology/general science teacher (7-12) with over nine years of teaching experience. She graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Biology (and a minor in Spanish). After spending time volunteering in Paterson, New Jersey with Americorps, she went on to participate in the New York City Teaching Fellows program, simultaneously beginning her teaching career in the Bronx and studying her Masters in Science Education degree at Pace University.

Meghan has experience teaching science to students from a wide variety of backgrounds and skill levels both in the NYCDOE and abroad in Mexico, including students with IEPs, English Language Learners, and gifted students. She has taught IB Biology, AP Biology, Living Environment, Environmental Science, Earth Science, Chemistry, and Physics, along with a variety of additional courses (Spanish, Math, History, and English). Through her teaching experience, Meghan has developed a strong rapport with her students, allowing her to better understand students’ interests, areas of strengths, and areas for improvement.

Meghan believes that students learn best through classes that are individualized, hands-on, and inquiry-based. She loves providing students with the opportunity to play the role of scientists and build their knowledge first-hand through questioning and designing experiments.
